Chas Roy-Chowdhury

Chas Roy-Chowdhury is Head of Taxation at ACCA. He has a degree in Applied Economics as well as being a fellow of ACCA. He worked in public practice from 1980 until 1991 when he joined ACCA Technical Department.

He is President of the Taxation Committee of the small business grouping UEAPME and a member of the Indirect and Direct Tax Working Parties at Fédération des Experts Comptables Européens (FEE) - the umbrella group for "first tier" European accountants.

He is secretary to the ACCA Taxation Committee and is in regular contact with many Government departments such as HM Revenue and Customs through formal committees and ad hoc meetings. In addition there is an ongoing commitment to putting across the message on key tax issues to the broader public and opinion formers via the media. To this end there have been regular appearances across the full range of local, national and international television and radio stations as well as wide coverage in both local, regional and national newspapers.

He has made presentations on key international tax issues to the European Parliament and International conference venues as well as lectured for ACCA on its courses and for its tax exams in China. He has also made presentations on Money Laundering and Ethics in, Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, Romania, Zambia and Pakistan. He has given evidence on a regular basis before parliamentary select committees usually on the Finance Bill but also on other aspects of taxation such as the creation of HMRC. He has been a part of the consultation process for the Common Consolidated Corporation Tax Base (CCCTB) by the EU Commission.

Mike Truman LLB FCA CTA (Fellow)

Mike is the editor of Taxation magazine, published by LexisNexis. He has worked in the tax departments of regional, national and international accountancy firms. Prior to his appointment as Taxation editor in 2004, he was a freelance writer and lecturer on tax.

Mike became a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1996 with a prize-winning thesis on the law of residence for tax purposes. He gave the 2007 Hardman Memorial lecture for the ICAEW Tax Faculty, asking the question ‘Can a fair tax system ever be simple?’

Mike frequently commentates on tax matters for TV and radio, including regular appearances on Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine show.

 

Guy Myles

Guy is Managing Director and a Co-Founder of Octopus. Guy is currently responsible for developing the overall company strategy, new product development and positioning, and managing senior external relationships and partnerships. He is also a driving force in the customer centric culture at Octopus.

Guy is a regular speaker at industry events.

Before founding Octopus in 2000, Guy was a Fund Manager at Mercury Asset Management (now Blackrock).

Guy graduated with a BSc in Physiology from Bristol University.

 

Gary Heynes

Gary Heynes is joint Co-Head of Private Client for Baker Tilly as well as heading the Private Client Group in the Guildford office. He has over 18 years of private client experience, a significant part of which was gained working with two of the Big 4 firms in their London offices. Gary is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

His specialist areas include Capital Taxes Planning, inheritance tax, tax planning for non-UK resident and non-UK domiciled individuals and the UK taxation of offshore trusts.

He has also a wide experience of international tax issues for private individuals, including ownership of property abroad; a subject on which he has written many articles and lectured extensively.

 

Antony Kelsey

Antony is an Associate Director at IOMA with overall responsibility for the company’s IHT business, including technical product development and distribution. Antony has been with the company for five years specialising in inheritance tax mitigation. Antony runs many sessions across the UK each year presenting to solicitors, accountants and financial planners.

 

Andy Lee

Andy Lee is Marketing Director of Fortress, international consultants, tax and trust advisers, and administrators of offshore companies and trusts.

His entire career has been spent in the financial sector, spanning banking, foreign exchange, and financial services, specializing in international tax and trust planning since 1992.

He works alongside many substantial businesses including banks, UK and International Investment houses and insurance companies, advising clients and their intermediaries on tax and trust strategies. He is a sought after speaker, working with organizations including the Law Society, Personal Finance Society, IFA organizations, Country Landowners Association, and National Federation of Residential Landlords on a regular basis.

His experience developing financial products, trust structures, and investment funds globally gives Andy a considerable insight into clients’ planning requirements reflecting the constantly changing landscape at home and abroad.

Working closely with Accountants, Solicitors and Financial Advisors, Andy can identify some key planning opportunities covering IHT, CGT, Income and Corporation Tax.

 

Tony Granger

Tony Granger has written over a dozen books in the fields of investments, pensions, retirement planning, school and university fees planning, inheritance tax and trusts, business wealth creation, business protection and personal financial planning.

He is a Certified Financial Planner and the only IFA in the UK who regularly writes consumer education books of interest for general consumers and professional advisers. He lectures widely to the professions and has degrees in law, economics and commerce.

 

Stuart Skeffington

Stuart has recently joined Stevens & Bolton from Withers, where he previously ran the European division of one of their wealth planning teams focusing upon 'new money' clients including entrepreneurs, business owners, senior executives and fund managers/proprietors.

Stuart has extensive experience of all aspects of tax and trusts, including complex onshore and offshore trust structures, tax planning for business owners (including exit events and corporate reconstructions), employee incentivisation strategies, investment taxation, family offices and succession planning. Stuart is a regular speaker on the conference circuit and also deals frequently with the national press.

He has also also recently been appointed joint UK branch reporter by the International Fiscal Association.
