Holly MacKay

Holly is the Managing Director of The Platforum, the UK’s leading independent specialist on fund platforms, which she established in February 2007. The Platforum provides consultancy services and research as well as running seminars and an annual platform conference. She has over 10 years’ experience of working on fund platforms in Australia, continental Europe and the UK.

Holly started her financial services career in the Australian industry where she eventually developed and ran investment platforms at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Norwich Union. On returning to the UK in 2003, she worked as a specialist fund platform consultant to both providers and distributors before being recruited to Abbey in 2004 to review their new wrap proposition. After the Santander acquisition of Abbey, Holly was appointed the UK Director of Allfunds Bank in June 2005.

Holly read Modern Languages at New College, Oxford University.

 

Jon Everill

Jon started his career in Financial Services in 1989 and in his 20 years in the industry since, he has worked for both Life Companies and IFA distributors in varying senior roles.

Jon started his own IFA business in 1995, working on a fee basis with high net worth clients, and sold this in 2000 to a FT-SE250 company. He then went on in 2003 to started Destini Financial Services Group PLC with other founders and investors. When the company merged with Thinc Group in 2005, it had a turnover of more than £25m. As Proposition Director at Bluefin Group, Jon is currently responsible for developing, maintaining and aligning the Bluefin client propositions. In addition he oversees the group investment strategy as well as other group strategic initiatives.

 

Ian Thomas

Ian Thomas is Head of Marketing at AXA Distribution Services and is responsible for developing the product and pricing strategy, investment offering and functionality of the Elevate platform.

In addition to his role at AXA Ian chairs the Tax Incentivised Savings Association (TISA) Platform Advisory Council – a group tasked with advising TISA on the platform and wrap market.

Ian joined AXA Distribution Services in June 2007. Prior to this he was Head of Marketing at Selestia/Skandia, Sales Director at Fidelity and FundsNetwork and Managing Director of JP Morgan Asset Management’s Nordic subsidiary, based in Stockholm.

Ian has an Economics degree from York University. He plays golf, basketball and also sails, spending a lot of his spare time in Sweden.

 

Mark Polson

Mark Polson is Head of Customer Management for Standard Life's affluent customers and also heads up communications for the Wrap and FundZone platforms.

Mark joined Standard Life in 2007 after stints at Scottish Life where he was Head of Corporate Business, Virgin Money and Scottish Widows. Mark has a particular focus on the advisory market and considerable experience in working with advisers to transition their businesses towards sustainable models in both the retail and corporate markets.

 

David Moffat

Born in Zimbabwe and educated in Scotland, David spent 15 years in the asset management industry with Fidelity, Threadneedle and Mellon Bank before joining JPMorgan as FundsHub Sales and Marketing Director.

Since 2004 David has primarily worked as a consultant with Adnitor for a number of wrap and platform clients and with the Money Portal Group with responsibility for platform strategy and fund manager relationships. David joined IFDS in October 2007 with responsibility for UK sales and marketing.

 

Shaun Sandiford

An economics graduate, Shaun has over 20 years experience in Financial Services, working within Life and Pension Companies and Investment Houses. Shaun was previously Regional Sales Director for Abbey Wealth Management and has spent the last five years with James Hay in a number of senior wrap platform roles.

In his role at Ascentric, Shaun is responsible for an expanded national business development team and works closely with leading IFAs and Wealth Managers throughout the UK. Shaun has spoken at numerous wrap conferences and symposiums over that last 4 years.

 

Geoff Mills

After over 30 years in UK Financial Services Geoff joined with two colleagues to form Rayner Spencer Mills in November 2004.

Having joined Eagle Star as a Graduate Trainee in 1969, Geoff then moved to take a role at Phoenix Assurance where he stayed for twelve years progressing to be their Sheffield branch manager. He then joined Leeds Permanent Building Society as Insurance Services Manager and became Managing Director of their IFA subsidiary company in 1989. After the merger with the Halifax he was appointed Operations Director for the combined IFA business.

In 1999 he joined Bradford & Bingley to lead the Group Financial Services team which had responsibility for the development of IFA strategy, product development and research. During his career Geoff has also contributed to many industry forums on IT, Distribution and market issues and is currently Chairman of the Personal Finance Society in Yorkshire. He lives in north west Leeds.

 

Clive Waller

Clive held positions in sales and marketing in life companies for too many years, including Sales Director at Zurich Life and Group Director at ZIFA. He set up the specialised research-based consultancy, CWC Research, in 1999 to provide data and advice to fund managers, life companies, platform and technology providers. Clive published and part wrote the first book on Platforms.

Clive is well known for his work in the platform sector, publishing regular detailed research studies on platforms since 2001. He published and part wrote the first book on platforms, “The adviser guide to platforms and the provision of advice” and promotes The UK Platform Awards.

 

Mike Linskey

Mike is the founder of Fincision, a financial services consultancy firm specialising in internet-based proposition development. He has an extensive background in the UK financial services sector stretching over 23 years, from technical pensions administration through sales management to business analysis and consultancy roles.

Recognised as a thought leader in the design and development of platforms & planning tools, he is currently engaged in a number of exciting high-profile projects

 

Philip Calvert

Philip Calvert is an independent sales and marketing consultant and social networking entrepreneur. He is the founder of IFA Life – the social networking website for financial planners, IFAs and financial professionals.

He is also the author of two published books and is in demand as a leading speaker on the impact of social media and the Internet on financial services distribution.
