The UK platform space is increasingly crowded and complex. With over 15 providers to choose between, and more coming on line all the time, the decision for IFAs and financial planners of which wrap to partner with is not an easy one to make.

Recent research shows that 2 out of 3 firms do not have a proper wrap strategy. When asked, fear of making the wrong choice is one of the main reasons holding advisers back from using technology to improve efficiency in their firms. Experience tells us that a proper use of wraps not only helps cut costs, but adds to the client offering and is a massive help when moving to a fee basis. The key question is not ‘what is the best wrap’, but ‘what is the best wrap for my business’.

Phil joined the financial services profession in 1982. He has since worked extensively within the IFA and financial planner professions. Phil is both a CFP and a chartered financial planner.

Amongst other industry positions, he is a Director of the Institute of Financial Planning, and is a former Director and Vice-Chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers. Outside the UK, he has experience of the USA, South African and other environments.

Phil has been involved with the wrap and platform arena for almost 10 years, working with both wrap and platform providers, and IFA’s and planners. This includes regulatory work, consultancy, training and helping firms select the most appropriate provider.

Phil works with IFA’s, financial planners and wealth managers to help them change their business model and work more effectively within a regulated environment.
