This estate planning workshop will provide a detailed examination of essential tax planning knowledge for advisers to wealthy and complex families. The session will provide an intensive and detailed insight into key skills for tax planning, and will focus on:

Estate Planning is a core skill for advising wealth creators and their families, and represents a key offering for advisors looking to develop the fee-based and high net worth side of their business.

Delegates will hear an intensive 90 minute presentation, followed by three cases studies providing detailed responses and strategies for dealing with specific situations. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a closer awareness of the fabric of inheritance tax and planning opportunities, and take away specific estate planning models they can use in their business.

The workshop will be lead by Brian Lawless, a Tax & Trust Consultant (London) and Peter Legg of Vantis (Manchester).

 

Peter Legg

Head of Inheritance Tax Planning Matters

Peter, head of Inheritance Tax Planning Matters, a division of Vantis, began his career in the Capital Taxes Office of HM Revenue & Customs, where he worked for 18 years. He has since been advising high net worth clients and professional advisers on estate planning and trust taxation for over 25 years. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Peter has sat on the CIOT’s Capital Taxes Technical Sub Committee and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

 

Brian Lawless

Tax and Trust Consultant

Brian is a self-employed Tax and Trust Consultant who worked for more than 40 years for Sun Life Assurance Society/AXA, latterly as MD of Sun Life Technical Services. He was from 2002 to 2004 MD of the Society of Financial Advisers and then Business Development Director of Jelf Private Clients until June 2007.
