Thorsten Hens, Professor of Financial Economics, University of Zurich’s
Swiss Banking Institute
Thorsten is SFI Professor
of Financial Economics at the University of Zurich’s Swiss Banking
Institute, a Fellow of CEPR and Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Norwegian
Business School in Bergen. He studied at Bonn and Paris and held professorships
in Stanford, Bielefeld and Zurich. His research areas include behavioural and
evolutionary finance. Thorsten is ranked among the top 10 economics professors
in the German spoken area.
Paul Wharton, Investment Director & Portfolio Manager, Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management (speaking in London)
Paul has over 20 years
experience in pension fund management. He joined Tilney following the
acquisition of SG Investment Management in 2003. Tilney was later acquired by
the Deutsche Bank Group at the end of 2006 to form the UK arm of its Wealth
Management division, Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management. Paul is a member
of the Investment Strategy Committee which is responsible for developing Group
Investment policy.
Tim Hale, Managing Director, Albion Strategic Consulting
Tim’s experience in
investment management provides the intellectual capital that is the foundation
for Albion Strategic Consulting. He is passionately committed to working with
wealth managers to help them to deliver the highest quality of service to their
clients. His book Smarter Investing: Simpler Decisions for Better Results was
published by FT Prentice Hall in 2006. Prior to setting up Albion Strategic
Consulting in 2001, Tim worked for Chase Asset Management (now part of JP
Morgan).
Graham Bentley, Head of Investment Marketing, Skandia
Graham is responsible for
the investment proposition for all offerings within the Skandia UK business,
including both the Skandia Life Range and the new integrated platform Selestia
Investment Solutions. Graham has over 30 years’ experience in investment
business, including most recently six years as Head of Investment Marketing at
Selestia. An expert in behavioural finance and the psychology of investing,
Graham is a frequent speaker on investment matters and contributor of features
and articles in the investment trade press.
Helen Gaidatzis, Head of ETF Portfolio Structuring, iShares
Europe
Helen Gaidatzis has
overall responsibility for establishing and developing European iShares Asset
Allocation strategies. For 2 years prior to joining iShares Helen headed the
BGI European Asset Allocation team, which provides asset allocation, overlay
and currency management, as well as lifecycle strategies for the defined
contribution market. Helen joined BGI in July 2006, prior to which she was with
active asset manager GMO for 8 years where she lead their European Asset
Allocation capability.
Duncan Brookes, Managing Director & Portfolio Manager, Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management (speaking in manchester)
Duncan joined Tilney
Investment Management in 1990 after graduating from Manchester University in
Maths and Management Science. Since then Duncan has managed both private client
and institutional mandates and also specialises in pension drawdown portfolios.
Duncan joined Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management when it acquired Tilney
in 2006. He is a member of the Private Wealth Management UK Executive
Management Group.
Michael W. Azlen, CAIA, CFP, Founder, CEO, Frontier Capital Management LLP
Michael founded Frontier
Capital Management in 2004 in order to bring the first true Multi-Asset Class
fund to the investment industry. Michael has a total of 22 years experience
spanning the entire spectrum of asset management including hedge funds,
proprietary trading, structured products and equity derivatives. Frontier
Capital Management LLP, is a London based asset manager specialising in
Multi-Asset Class funds, Strategic Asset Allocation and Active Index
Investing.
Christopher Aldous, Chief Executive, Evercore Pan Asset
Christopher has been
involved in wealth management since 2001 as a founder and Chief Executive of
Absolute Fund Management. He managed a low volatility fund of hedge funds
designed for high net worth, family office and charity investors and wrote many
articles urging the wider use of hedge funds in portfolio construction. This
followed 20 years in investment banking beginning with Cazenove in 1981.
Peter Toogood, Director of Investment Services, Old Broad Street Research Ltd
Peter joined OBSR in 2008
having being instrumental in the sale of the Crosby Forsyth offshore research
business to OBSR. He has over 20 years industry experience, initially as fund
analyst for 2 well established intermediaries then as Head of Fund Research for
Forsyth Partners. He became Chief Investment Officer for Forsyth Partners in
2000 overseeing the management of a variety of long and alternative managed
solutions.
Andrew Moore, Head of Sales, MLC Investment Management
Andrew runs sales and MLC
and is also Head of the Pivotal Consulting team in the UK. With a career
stretching over 20 years, Andrew is a regular speaker on topics such as
practice management, outsourcing investment management and value creation in an
IFA business.
